In this experimental study of radiofrequency tissue response, bipolar radiofrequency energy was launched into the skin of miniature pigs in vivo at different microneedle penetration depths, signal amplitudes, and transit times. Immediately after radiofrequency treatment, skin samples exhibited radiofrequency-induced thermal damage coagulation columns, which were generated around each microneedle in the dermis, respectively. In bovine liver tissue ex vivo, the thermal coagulation column was found to be maximally concentrated around the tip of each electrode. After 2 s of RF conduction time, various regions of thermal coagulation began to converge with the adjacent RF-induced coagulation column; the convergence of the coagulation column was found to start from the tip of the adjacent electrode.

Working Principle
